Stagmomantis Limbata (The Bordered Mantis)
The Bordered Mantis is native to North America. They come in striking colors like green and brown. Mantids participate in sexual cannabalism and decapitate their mate during. These decapitated mantises may even fertilize more than ones with heads. Mantids produce egg masses called ootheca. Bordered Mantis lay their ootheca in the fall, which overwinter until spring when they hatch into nymphs.
